Rochester Drug Bust Included Significant Cash Seizures
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Two felony drug charges have been filed against a Rochester teenager in connection with a police raid on a home in northeast Rochester on Tuesday.
The charges faced by 19-year-old Cristian Velez involve the sale of drugs in a school zone. The residence where police seized 400 grams of marijuana, over 50 packets of hash oil and almost 70 THC vaping cartridges is located less than 600 feet away from Schaefer Academy.
The criminal complaint says, in addition to the illegal drugs, police found about $1300 in cash at the home, another $11,500 in a safe deposit box, and over $25,000 in a bank account. The court documents also state that employees of the bank told investigators the cash deposited by Velez often "smelled strongly of marijuana."
