Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The public is being invited to weigh in on some “use of force” policies currently authorized by the Rochester Police Dept.

The city’s Police Policy Oversight Commission and Diversity Council will host a community listening session on three of the policies now under review.

Mayor Kim Norton has tasked the PPOC to review the policies and be prepared to provide input at its July 7th meeting.

The listening session will run from 5:30 - 7:00 PM Wednesday and be conducted on the Diversity Council’s Facebook page. Those without Facebook access can join by phone by calling 507-218-7334.

The session will be facilitated by the Diversity Council and moderated by Angi Porter, who is an associate with the University of Minnesota’s Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action.

Those unable to attend may submit comments to Interim Commission Chair, Terre McJoynt, using an online email form on the RPD’s contact information web page.  The session will be recorded and available on the Diversity Council’s Facebook page.
