Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The future of the former Rochester Kmart store site could be decided Monday night.

The Rochester City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on a plan to convert the property into a public Park-and-Ride site that would also be used by Mayo Clinic employees.

The council will review a plan that was revised after it was approved last month by the city Planning and Zoning Commission. One of the significant changes is the increase in the number of parking spaces. The earlier plan called for about 1200 spaces. The revised plan would increase the total to nearly 1400.

The proposal calls for a 10-year lease agreement between the city and property owner.

According to the staff recommendation, there would be no limitation on the number of stalls the city would offer to the public. The remainder would be leased to Mayo Clinic.
