We're sort of at the point in the winter where the weather is super cold and there's not much to look forward to. Ok, that sounds so negative, but we just got done with the holidays and now there's nothing major on the calendar until... the Fourth of July? So we need to find fun activities to add to the calendar to look forward to! And coming up at the end of January is Pine Island's annual Winter Fest.

It's the 10th annual Winter Fest and it's coming up on Saturday, January 29th. There are some fun events on the schedule. You can go skating, skiing, or snowshoeing if you want to enjoy the outdoors. There's also family bingo, a soup and chili feed, and a coloring contest if you'd rather stay indoors.

Also, if you're a little competitive like I am, they even have a snowman building contest and a cardboard sled race. The snowman building contest actually lasts all week so you have tons of time to perfect the snowman that will get you first place!

A great way to end the day is with the luminary ski trail, bonfires, and a bluegrass concert. I always enjoy nighttime illuminated skiing or hiking trails, it always looks so beautiful against the snow.

The event is free except for the luminary ski trail (you need to pay for a rental), the concert, family bingo, and the soup and chili feed.
