Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Olmsted County election officials will be putting in extra hours Saturday for voters who don’t want to wait until Tuesday.

The county will staff its Elections Office and Government Center until 5:00 PM Saturday for those who want to vote in person or drop off a ballot.

The two sites will also be open 8:00 - 5:00 PM Monday, which is the last day of early absentee voting.

As a result of a court ruling Thursday dealing with mail-in ballots, voters are being advised NOT to place their absentee ballots in the mail. They can be dropped off at either county site.

Here is some useful information from county election officials:

  • If you have already put your ballot in the mail, you may track your ballot. If your ballot has not yet been received, you can vote in-person either by direct balloting, which is a form of absentee voting or at your polling place on Election Day.
  • You may hand deliver your completed absentee ballot to the ballot boxes in Olmsted County. Drop-off locations include the Olmsted County Elections Office (2122 Campus Drive SE) and the Government Center (151 4th Street SE). Ensure you drop ballots off by 3 p.m. on November 3 for them to be counted.
  • If you would like someone (an “agent”) to pick up your ballot and turn it in for you (voting via agent delivery), please contact the Olmsted County Elections Office ASAP at 507-328-7650 for more information. You will have a form to fill out to send with your agent which gives them permission to pick up your ballot. The agent must deliver the ballot by 2 p.m. on November 3 for it to be counted.
