Nonpoint Play ‘Would You Rather?’
In our latest game of ‘Would You Rather?,’ Nonpoint frontman Elias Soriano and guitarists Rasheed Thomas and B.C. Kochmit shared some laughs while they debated the various questions. Check out our game of ‘Would You Rather?’ with Nonpoint below:
Would you rather be late for a show or mess up onstage?
All Three Members: Late for a show.
Elias Soriano: Late for a show because it’s cool to be late. One time I saw Velvet Revolver play in South Florida and we waited an hour and a half for Scott Weiland to come onstage. We were like, “What the f--- is going on?” He finally came out onstage and I knew the head concierge at the Hard Rock so I was like, “Dude what the f--- was up with Scott? Why’d he take so long to come onstage? I saw the other guys in the wings.” He said, “He wasn’t going to leave his hotel room until the Notre Dame game was done.” He sat in his hotel, finished the football game then he did the gig. [Laughs] It sucks to mess up onstage.
B.C. Kochmit: But then we talked about Scott Weiland again when he f---ed up onstage and that was…I would rather be late for a show.
Would you rather be in the studio or on tour?
BCK: On tour.
ES: In the studio.
Rasheed Thomas: Man, I like them both a lot.
BCK: Everybody’s different, I’m a performer. I love touring and I could write music on tour. I can’t perform and get that in the studio.
RT: I love to tour, I could also record on tour. We wrote that whole acoustic thing on tour, remember.
BCK: You can be in the studio on tour, at the same time.
ES: I love writing music. I like the studio, I just like the process, reaching up into the ether and bringing something down. That’s my deal.
Would you rather have a massive bank account or a massive fan base?
RT: If you got the fan base, you got the bank account!
BCK: Yeah, I’m going with the fan base.
ES: Oh my God, see I would rather have the bank account. I’m not saying I don’t need fans because of what I do for a living, of course I need fans but it’s not something that gives me satisfaction. Whether or not a person likes me isn’t what defines me. I would rather have enough money to put my daughter through college. [Laughs]
RT: Hey, you need money to live.
ES: And that way I could go into any studio and record anywhere I wanted and any time I wanted.
RT: At that point you could just build a studio.
ES: I could build a fan base…I could buy my fans! [Laughs]
RT: We would just buy our fan base. Yeah, so we’ll all take the money. [Laughs]
BCK: I’m still going with the fans.
RT: Like I said with the fans come the money.
ES: Yeah but with it comes vanity too, I don’t want vanity.
RT: I need to be loved.
Would you rather tour with a band you don’t respect or tour with a band that doesn’t respect you?
ES: Tour with a band I didn’t respect because I’m constantly touring with bands I don’t respect. If I had to be given the choice and if I knew a band didn’t respect me, I wouldn’t take them out on tour.
RT: Yeah same here.
BCK: I don’t care either way. If I don’t respect them I’m going to go that extra mile and if I know they don’t respect me then I’m going to do that extra mile anyway.
Would you rather have an accordion for legs or drumsticks for hands?
RT: Drumsticks for hands! [In addition to playing guitar,] I’m a drummer so…I play drums.
BCK: Accordions for legs because I’m a guitar player and I need my hands.
ES: Yeah, I would do accordions for legs too because it would be kind of cool. You could walk all bowlegged and s--- and every time you walk you got theme music.
RT: You know what, you’re right, if I had accordion for legs, I could still play drums. Wait no, I couldn’t double bass!
ES: Hey! But if you had drumsticks for hands, it would be straight you couldn’t do anything.
BCK: It would be like the pirate from Family Guy. You would get some splinters.
RT: The ladies would get some splinters. Oh no. [Laughs]
Would you rather have lunch with a music icon who has passed away or one who is currently alive? Who would it be?
BCK: Passed away, Stevie Ray Vaughan, because he’s the s---.
RT: Passed away, Prince. He was a big influence of mine since I was a kid, my parents listened to him and introduced me to his music. His stage presence and everything, I’ve studied that dude for years.
BCK: Both Prince and Stevie Ray Vaughan, they could walk up to me and spit in my face and I’d thank them.
RT: I miss Prince.
BCK: You couldn’t look Prince in the eyes though.
ES: Man, that was a good answer. I don’t think I would have picked anyone else but Prince.
BCK: And Michael Jackson.
ES: No, with Michael Jackson I think I’d be weirded out the whole time, I liked his music. He’d be like, “Do you like to climb trees?” and I would be like, “No, man.” [Laughs]
RT: Prince was funny, he had so much charisma and was hilarious.
