Murder Case Against Rochester Man Dismissed

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A drug-related murder case recently filed against a Rochester man has been dismissed.

The Olmsted County Attorney’s Office filed the case against 23-year-old Lam Yieb in April, charging him with 3rd-degree murder in the overdose death of a Rochester man.

He was accused of selling the 22-year-old victim cocaine and a pill containing fentanyl that police say proved fatal. The victim took the drugs on Feb. 4th and was later found unresponsive by his fiance.

According to the criminal complaint, the pill was referred to as “perc 30” and was described as blue in color, round and having the letter “M” and “30” on it. Police say an autopsy of the victim found he “ suffered from combined toxic effects of fentanyl and cocaine.”

Yieb denied selling the drugs to the victim. An evidentiary hearing was scheduled last month to be held June 8th.

The county attorney’s office filed its dismissal notice with the court Thursday, indicating "there was insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt."
