Minnesotans Opening Their Hearts and Wallets
Undated (KROC-AM News) - Through noon Thursday, donations to the annual Give to the Max Day event were running at nearly $1-million an hour.
The event began at midnight and as of 12:45 PM, donations had climbed to $12-million.
The 24-hour fundraiser benefits thousands of non-profit organizations and schools around the state. Matching grants are also offered for many of the donations. Executive Director Jake Blumberg says the event is among the largest grassroots fundraisers in the world.
This is the 11th year of the event and organizers hope to surpass last year’s total of $21-million.
