Minnesota is the Second-Best State in U.S. for Nurses
As we kick-off National Nurses Week, a new survey has ranked Minnesota as the second-best state in the nation for nurses.
Here in Minnesota, we're used to being at or near the top in many different surveys concerning our quality of life. Healthcare is a big part of that. And nurses make up a humungous part of healthcare, right? So, here's a special shout-out to all the hardworking nurses here in the Bold North for the incredible job they do each day!
It's also cool to see that the Land of 10,000 Lakes rates #2 on a new WalletHub survey of the Best States for Nurses. In a release, WalletHub said they compared the relative attractiveness of the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 21 key areas, including monthly average starting salary for nurses to health-care facilities per capita to nursing-job openings per capita.
And, overall, Minnesota is ranked #2. Only the state of Oregon rated higher than we did. Minnesota rated third in categories like 'Health-Care Facilities per Capita' and 'Average Annual Salary for Nurses'. I'm guessing perhaps the world-famous Mayo Clinic might have had something to do with our overall second-place finish.
Rounding out the top five state behind Washington and Minnesota were Washington, New Mexico and Maine. Meanwhile, our neighbors to the east, back in my home state of Wisconsin, came in ranked 18th, while Iowa came in at number 10.
