Metallica’s Metal Motor – Car – That Is – Wins Top Prize
Metallica's James Hetfield has many hobbies. One of them, cars, has scored him a #1. He won another top prize, it's not the first time he has been awarded for a hot-rod. He's been a collector for quite some time... his latest? 'The Black Pearl.' It was named the custom car of the year by the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association. It is an entirely custom built machine... hand formed and designed my Hetfield himself. Take a look at a photo of his creation from the Goodguys...
According to 'Motoramic' it has a 1948 Jaguar frame, a V-8 with 375 hp and is more of a work of art than a speedster. Hetfield was in awe that what started as an 8 x 10 drawing turned into this. It was born from steel sheets, from scratch!
I made a car once, in industrial arts class, in like 7th grade. Yeah, shop. I remember how much I loved that class! We took a little block of wood and sanded, grinded, painted, added accessories, I think it was almost as cool as the clay pot I made in art class. It was only a little piece of wood and maybe the size of a shoe, but I still was pretty proud of that puppy. I can't imagine how proud James musta been for creating this beautiful gal, his, 'Black Pearl.' I maybe have a small amount in common with him, in that I named my little shop creation the 'Blue Royal.' Thats about it, his is way more awesome. The video [below] features James talking about cars. He says, 'Cars are like people.. They like love'.... He loves working with his cars!
