A man who had allegedly chased a female hiker through the Sam Houston National Forest in the nude said he was only naked because he had to poop.

The man, who was identified as 53-year-old Scott Alexander Stephens, has been charged with disorderly conduct. If convicted, he'll be fined for the Class C misdemeanors, each of which are punishable by a fine of $500.

On Friday evening, the victim called the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office to report she was being chased by a naked man on the Lone Star Hiking Trail.

When deputies arrived to take the woman's statement, she told them that she had seen Stephens emerge from a nearby stand of trees and started walking her direction. He had an article of clothing, but she didn't stick around to see what it was.

She said she took off running, and said the man was chasing her, although she didn't look back to see if he really was.

As deputies spoke to her, a shirtless male walked out of the trailhead, and deputies detained him. Stephens admitted he had stripped naked to drop a deuce in the woods, but he said he hadn't seen anyone else in the woods.

Stephens was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail, according to KHOU.

Officials took the opportunity and story to remind hikers to travel in groups, and notify family or friends of the route you plan to take.
