Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The driver of a souped-up street car was clocked at 131 mph while being pursued on a busy Rochester street during Wednesday’s afternoon commute.

An Olmsted County deputy noticed the car speeding on North Broadway near Silver Lake around 5 p.m. and began following the vehicle. The driver turned west on 37th St and floored it after the deputy activated his lights. The deputy nearly caught the driver at the West River Parkway intersection but he sped up again.

Olmsted County Sheriff's Office Sgt Kirby Long says for safety reasons, the deputy turned off his lights and slowed his car. As he approached the 37th St/18th Ave intersection, the deputy discovered the car was stuck in traffic and was able to apprehend the driver.
