Big Lake, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol responded to a fatal traffic crash in central Minnesota this morning.

The deadly collision was reported around 7:40 AM on Highway 10 just to the east of Big Lake in Sherburne County. According to a preliminary report from the State Patrol, a car traveling west on Highway 10 collided with a second car that was attempting to cross the highway at the intersection with 172nd Street.

The report indicates that a 40-year-old woman from Big Lake apparently pulled away from a stop sign and into the path of the westbound vehicle on Highway 10. A 25-year-old man from Elk River was the driver of that car.

The names of the drivers have not been released. The State Patrol has not indicated if either motorist survived the collision.

The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office, Big Lake Police and Fire Departments, Elk River Police Department, and Centra Care Ambulance.
