It’s the second time in less than six months that the man has been charged in a sexual assault case, court records say. The victim in the new case is 14 years old.

Police found her after she had escaped the man’s home.

The criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Monday, says Rochester Police responded to the report of a missing 14-year-old girl on Thursday evening. A family member of the victim told officers the young girl had run away from home.

Officers began searching for the girl and were informed she was spotted running northbound from the 3rd Ave. Southeast Kwik Trip.

Police found the teen and she told officers that she ran away from a home in southeast Rochester and encountered a man near KFC. The man asked her if she had a phone and the girl said he appeared to have a pistol hanging out of one of his pockets, the complaint says.

The girl said the man threatened to shoot her if she did not go with him. The victim said she went to the man’s house and told him she was 14 years old, according to the court filing.

Victim went to a KFC and kept walking and was approached by a man. The man asked her if she had a phone. Victim told him "no," and observed what looked like a pistol hanging out of his pockets. The male told Victim that if she did not come with him, he would shoot her.

After giving the girl a soft drink, the man told her to take off her clothes or he would shoot her. The victim said she refused the command the man responded by putting her on the couch, undressing her then sexually assaulting the young teen, the complaint states.

The girl said she ran into the bathroom of the home after she started bleeding and changed into a new set of clothes she had packed. She saw the alleged assailant go out into the home’s yard and used it as a chance to escape from the home, the court filing says.

Police brought the teen girl to St. Mary’s Hospital for a Sexual Assault Nurse Examination. The victim had dried blood that had streamed down her legs, according to the complaint.

Before going to the hospital, the victim gave officers the address of the alleged sex assault and police found a man lying in the yard. The girl identified him as her attacker, the charging document says.

Officers identified the alleged assailant as 47-year-old Pacomio Campos-Cano. The complaint says Campos-Cano had blood on his hands and body.

Police then executed a search warrant at Campos-Cano’s residence and found a towel with blood on it and two socks the victim said she left at the home, according to the court document. The complaint does not indicate whether or not officers found a gun.

Campos-Cano, who the complaint says was found in the yard lying next to a 12-pack of beer and smelled of alcohol, gave police an “intelligible response” when asked where the blood came from.

Campos-Cano was arraigned Monday on one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. His bail was set at $500,000.

Court records indicate Campos-Cano was already facing a gross misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct charge connected to an alleged groping that occurred in a Rochester park last November.

Campos-Cano was released without bail in that case. He is due back in court for both criminal sexual conduct cases later this week.
