The minivan was traveling west on the freeway when it crashed into the guardrail, according to the state crash report.

Dexter, MN (KROC-AM News)- A crash on Interstate 90 in southeast Minnesota sent a young boy to the hospital Wednesday evening.

The State Patrol says the child was riding in a minivan, which was the only vehicle involved in the accident. 

Two other children were also riding in the minivan. The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m.

6-Year-Old Boy From Iowa Hospitalized After Minivan Crash on I-90 in Mower County

First responders were sent to the single-vehicle crash about three miles southwest of the I-90 Dexter exit. The minivan was traveling west on the freeway when it crashed into the guardrail, according to the state crash report.

45-year-old Lindsay Brooke Mccormick of Webster City, IA was behind the wheel, the State Patrol says.

Authorities are describing the injured child as a 6-year-old boy also from Webster City. The state crash report indicates he was brought to a hospital in Austin with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other passengers, also from Webster City, are described as a 4-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy. Mccormick and the two other children escaped the crash without injuries, according to the State Patrol.  

Everyone in the minivan was buckled up and alcohol was not involved, the state crash report says. 

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Clinic Ambulance also responded to the crash.
