
Rochester Man Critically Injured in Crash Involving Sheriff’s SUV
Pine Island, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man was critically injured in a suspected alcohol-related crash involving a law enforcement vehicle on Highway 52 near Pine Island on Saturday.
The Minnesota State Patrol crash report says a Goodhue County Sheriff's Office SUV was parked on the shoulder along southbound Highway 52 when it was struck by a southbound car at approximately 4:10 PM. The collision occurred just south of the Highway 52 exit to Main Street in Pine Island.
Life Threatening Injuries
Mayo One responded to the crash and transported the driver of the car to St. Mary’s Hospital. He has been identified as 31-year-old Anthony Vruno, and the State Patrol described his injuries as life-threatening.
Deputy Hurt
The Goodhue County sheriff’s deputy was identified as 29-year-old Kainen Whitehead of Kenyon. He was also transported to St. Mary’s Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
