Rochester Woman Accused of Brandishing Box Cutter During Road Rage Incident

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester woman is facing felony charges for allegedly brandishing a knife during an apparent road rage incident.

That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Monday. 

The court document says Rochester police responded to the reported road rage incident on Sunday.

Rochester Woman Accused of Threatening Passenger with Box Cutter During Road Rage Incident

The complaint says the incident began at the Hwy. 14 and West Circle Dr. interchange. 

The occupants of the victim vehicle told officers a vehicle sped around them, prevented them from changing lanes and slammed on the brakes, the charges say. 

Both vehicles came to a stop in the area of 16th Ave. and 1st St. NW. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Keara Michelle McGee, got out, and approached the victim’s vehicle while holding a box cutter, according to the court document. 

McGee slashed the knife into the victim vehicle’s driver's side tires, the charges allege.

The passenger in the victim vehicle exited and asked McGee what she was doing. McGee responded by holding the box cutter close to the passengers throat and said "I'm gonna do this," the complaint says. 

A witness reported seeing McGee approach the victim's vehicle but said he did not see what happened. Officers noticed superficial damage to the victim's vehicle tires, the charges say. 

Police Speak to McGee

Police found McGee on the phone with dispatch at a nearby parking lot. She had a box cutter on her that matched a description given by the victim. 

While speaking with police, McGee said the occupants of the other vehicle approached her and that she got out with the box cutter and confronted the victim at a close range while the blade was out, according to the court document. 

McGee is charged with second-degree assault and terroristic threats. She was released without bail following her first court appearance on Monday.
