Minneapolis, MN (MinnesotaNow) - A former Minnesota State Trooper has admitted to federal child pornography charges connected to an investigation into a sexual assault involving an infant.

Federal court documents indicate that 42-year-old Jeremy Francis Plonski entered guilty pleas to charges of production and distribution of child pornography during an appearance at the federal courthouse in Minneapolis on Tuesday. The court documents indicate the remaining charges against him will be dismissed at his sentencing hearing. He faces a minimum prison sentence of 15 years and a maximum of life behind bars.

Charges Stem from Scott County Investigation

The child pornography charges originated with an investigation in Scott County that resulted in a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. In that case, which is still pending, Plonski is accused of sexually assaulting an infant.

According to the federal indictment, Plonski recorded videos of the assaults on the child and shared them on a social media app. The charges state that he wore his State Patrol uniform and his U.S. Army Reserve uniform while recording the videos.

An earlier statement issued by the Office of the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota indicated that Plonski joined the State Patrol in 2022. His employment was terminated after he was criminally charged.

The FBI, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Shakopee Police Department were all involved in the investigation.
