Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - There was a bit of excitement today at the Rochester Airport due to what officials termed "a general aviation incident."

A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration says a preliminary report indicates a smaller aircraft had a tire blowout while the pilot was landing at the Rochester Airport late this morning. The incident involving the twin-engine plane prompted an emergency response from airport personnel, the Rochester Fire Department, Mayo Clinic ambulance, and other agencies.

No injuries were reported and the airport was able to resume full operations once the damaged aircraft was moved away from the airfield. The incident remains under investigation.

First responders are dealing with an incident at the Rochester International Airport.

According to a news release from RST, “ a small general aviation aircraft incident occurred” around noon. The statement says “There are no fatalities and those on board are being medically assessed.”

The secondary runway remains open and the airport is operational.

The release goes on to say:

“ We cannot provide full details of the incident, because emergency personnel are currently assessing the situation. Our primary goals are to provide support to emergency personnel and to ensure safe and efficient continuation of service for our customers
