Jason Newsted’s ‘Fabulous Farmhouse’ Is on Sale for $2.9 Million
Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted is selling his house in Walnut Creek, Calif. It hit the market last week with an asking price of $2.89 million.
According to the listing, held by Douglas Buenz at 680 Homes, the five-bedroom, five bathroom (three full, two half) home was built in 1986, and covers 6,720 square feet on a 1.37-acre lot.
The property is called a "fabulous modern farmhouse," and cites its "premium location" and a new kitchen with "stunning Moroccan tile and high-end Elise appliances" among its custom updates. The house's "elegant dining room" and "spacious family room" are also highlighted.
The master suite features its own balcony and fireplace, with an updated bathroom that includes a soaking tub, dual sinks and a large walk-in closet. Two other bedrooms can be found on the second floor, while another bedroom suite is located on the first floor; a fifth is on the third story.
The yard is described as "picturesque," with views of Mt. Diablo, and "an entertainer’s dream," thanks to its patio, wraparound porch, dog run and a "sprawling lawn." A studio is located above the detached three-car garage. The listing does not mention Newsted's ownership of the house, though that information was uncovered by Realtor, which also notes that the house was purchased in 1991 for $675,000 during its most recent sale.
