Highway 14 Closed East of Owatonna After Train & Semi-Truck Crash

Update 10/18/2021 at 5:24pm according to 511mn and Steele County officials Highway 14 East of Owatonna is back open for traffic.

Highway 14 east of Owatonna is currently closed.

511MN.org, a traffic map that updates with the latest road conditions across Minnesota states that the highway is closed in both directions while the scene is cleaned up from the crash.

It's unclear if there were injuries sustained in the crash at this point. The Minnesota State Patrol and the Steele County Sheriff's Office are on the scene.

511's message to drivers is to be aware of the crash, and follow local detour signs.

Between Southeast 44th Avenue and Southeast 54th Avenue (1 to 2 miles east of the Owatonna area). The road is closed. Look out for a crash.

Highway 14 recently was opening up after being under construction for the majority of the summer as it expands to 4 lanes from Mankato to Rochester.
