You often see flowers or crosses set up on the side of roads to mark a site where a person died. These road-side memorials also serve as a subconscious reminder for drivers to be safe. I'd never seen a display to honor a dead animal until this morning.

A wild turkey known as Jake, who was put down last month by Rochester Police, now has a road-side display dedicated to his memory. John Sherwin from the RPD says the police department would get 2-3 calls each day about the angry bird nearly causing traffic accidents. He says the turkey also chased pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists.

The memorial, which you can see above, is located at the intersection of 16th St. and Mayowood Rd SW.
