Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A GoFundMe page has been created to benefit a southern Minnesota law officer who was badly injured in the line of duty last week.

The online fundraiser has a goal of $10,000 to help Waseca County Sheriff's Deputy Josh Langr and his family to cover their expenses while he recovers from serious burns. His mother-in-law says Deputy Langr is expected to be treated in the ICU at the Hennepin County Medical Center Burn Unit for at least two weeks and will likely be away from his job for an extended period of time.

The deputy responded to a fatal traffic crash in Waseca last Wednesday evening when he came into contact with a downed powerline and suffered a 14,000-volt jolt of electricity. The powerline was partially downed when a pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old boy smashed into a power pole and then rolled over. A teenage girl in the passenger seat was ejected from the pickup and was killed.
