Enjoy These 5 Local State Parks in Southeast Minnesota For Free Saturday
If you've been looking for a reason to enjoy your favorite local Minnesota State Park, then this is the weekend to do it!
This Saturday, June 9 is #NationalGetOutdoorsDay and to celebrate, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is offering FREE admission to all 75 Minnesota state park and recreation areas. National Get Outdoors Day was launched in 2008 to get more Americans outside and connect them to nature.
We have several within driving distance of Rochester, such as Whitewater State Park, Rice Lake State Park, Frontenac State Park, Carley State Park, and Forestville Mystery Cave State Park just to name a few.
Many have special activities planned to introduce you to the fun of kayaking, camping and more. In fact Whitewater State Park will feature several fun events, like a Family Outdoor Fair, Archery in the Park, and a live owl program.
As of right now, the National Weather Service out of La Crosse says it'll be mostly cloudy with slight chance of rain and a high near 80. Not bad if you ask me!
