DMC is Finally Bringing Something Cool to Rochester – A Steakhouse!
Is anyone else's mouth watering right now?
Rochester's skyline is looking more and more different by the day due to Destination Medical Center that is currently underway. In fact, one of the first projects of the DMC initiative is the 20-story building that's under construction at the corner of South Broadway and East Center Street, which will so become a Hilton Hotel.
The 264-room luxury hotel is being developed by Rochester-based Titan Development & Investments in partnership with Harbor Bay Real Estate Advisors of Chicago. The $145-million project was finalized in December 2016, two years after the City Council approved a final development plan for the site.
But now word is out that the Med City will also be getting a brand new steakhouse restaurant called Pittsburgh Blue that will be built within the hotel. This will be the third PB in Minnesota, but the first outside of the metro.
They're most compared with the likes of Manny's Steakhouse out of Minneapolis, but with "cheaper" meal options. The menu for the new Pittsburgh Blue will include steaks for $30 to $60 and pasta at more modest price of under $20.
According to a story by the Star Tribune, Pittsburgh Blue will only serve dinner initially, but it plans to open about 3 p.m. to catch employees getting off the early shift.
I mean sure, Destination Medical Center is bringing a ton of new jobs, hotels and yada yada yada... But c'mon, you have to admit this is something the people of Rochester can really get excited about, right? I think so.
Pittsburgh Blue is set to open in April of next year.
