Clutch Eye September 2018 for ‘Book of Bad Decisions’ Album
Clutch have been teasing a new album with behind the scenes footage of late, but we now have a firm album title and a tentative release period for the upcoming disc.
While speaking with Brittney Patton of 103.7 The Eagle Rocks at the Las Rageous festival, Clutch frontman Neil Fallon revealed the new title to be Book of Bad Decisions.
"This record has a lot of ... maybe not a lot of, but instances where I looked back into events of my own life or Clutch's career, took them and exaggerated them for the purposes of drama," said Fallon. "I've always been wary of that, cause I don't really like nostalgia, but I also realize after 25 years, there's a whole catalogue of experiences that I can take and draw from that."
The band has been in a Nashville studio with producer Vance Powell, who has the Clutch seal of approval. The group banged out 15 songs over three weeks, opting to record live rather than tracking each instrument individually. The singer gave high praise to Powell for his efforts. "He was a joy to work with, and it's a great-sounding record, and we're really pleased with the way it came out," said Fallon. "Vance is one of us, he comes from a live background. He toured with Tanya Tucker. [He was] in country initially, and then he does rock and roll as well. So he understands the live parameters. He didn't go to a fancy audio school [and then] directly to the studio — he paid his dues — and I think that's an education you can't buy."
As for a timeline for the new album release, Fallon states the band is tentatively looking ahead to September for Book of Bad Decisions.
