Byron, MN (KROC AM News) -  A Byron high school student is in trouble after pointing a toy gun at a friend.

The incident happened Friday and was reported Monday.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Captain Scott Behrns says the deputy assigned to the school was told the 17-year-old pointed the gun at the other student while driving out of the parking lot around 3:00 PM Friday. The incident was reported by other students who saw what happened.

Behrns says the 17-year-old was interviewed Monday and told the deputy the gun was still in his car. He told the deputy he didn’t think “people would be so sensitive about a toy gun.”

Behrns says the student has been charged with a gross misdemeanor and the case remains under investigation.
