Buckle Up: Extra Enforcement For Those Unbuckled
Olmsted County, MN (KROC AM News) - Seventy-eight unbuckled motorist were killed last year in Minnesota.
To help remind Minnesotans and motorist that seat belts save lives, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, the Rochester Police Department and 300 other law enforcement agencies across the state will participate in the statewide Click it or Ticket campaign from September 17-29.
Motorist can expect extra law enforcement on the roadways as officials monitor that you are buckled up.
The Click it or Ticket campaign is a component of the state’s Toward Zero Deaths program. Last year, there were 1,215 life-changing injuries due to unbelted motorists. Also, 76 percent of the unbelted deaths occurred in Greater Minnesota and 32 percent of all motor vehicle deaths involved unbelted occupants, compared with 30 percent in 2016.
