Best Buy Now Offering This for All Employees & Other Employers Should Follow Suit
There are a few other Minnesota companies who have done this but I think all employers should offer it!
Best Buy is now offering backup child care for full-time and part-time employees. This backup childcare is available for both store employees and corporate employees as well.
Best Buy contracted with Care@Work to make this possible and it gives all employees 10 subsidized days of backup child care. The copay is only $10.
Best Buy's senior vice president of human resources, Charlie Montreuil told the Star Tribune that "'no one should ever have to choose between coming to work or making sure they have quality care for their child.'"
Other companies that are already doing this include General Mills, Abbott Laboratories and Allianz Life Insurance Co.
Working Mother magazine compiled a list of the 100 best companies to work for and the most recent list says 91 out of the 100 companies offered some sort of backup childcare. That's awesome!
