Avengers: Infinity War promises a whole lot of superheroes finally meeting a whole lot of other superheroes, and in the beginning of the movie, a bunch of our favorites are going to meet for the first time. The Guardians of the Galaxy will have their first contact ever with an Avenger when they meet Thor, who, for some reason, is floating around in space and looks mighty beat up.

A new clip, which was yanked from the Kids’ Choice Awards, shows the Guardians happening upon a scene of massive carnage, with debris and bodies floating around in space. And then Thor smacks against the Milano’s windshield like a very large bug. The crew brings him inside, and Star Lord makes the mistake of calling him a dude, which Drax quickly corrects.

“He is not a dude,” he says. “You’re a dude. This is a man.” Strong agree, Drax.

When Mantis uses her glowing antennae to wake the God of Thunder up, he looks, naturally, pretty confused. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say I think I know exactly what the situation is, which fits with my theory from a few months ago: In a Thor: Ragnarok mid-credits scene, we see Thor’s spaceship with all the refugees from Asgard beset by Sanctuary II, Thanos’ warship, which sidles up to them like a giant shark. A few months ago, Kevin Feige said Thanos was going to do something very bad right at the beginning of Infinity War that would cement him in history as the worst bad guy the Avengers have ever faced. I think this means Thanos is going to vaporize what’s left of Thor’s realm, leave him for dead, only for Thor to be coincidentally picked up by the Guardians.

But then, where is the newly redeemed (?) Loki? Part of Thanos’ henchmen now? I guess we’ll have to wait for April 27, when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters.
