Suddenly everywhere I go I'm hearing about kids and the #TidePodChallenge. Is it happening here in Rochester? I did an extensive social media search AND I got in touch with the right people to see if anyone had been to the emergency room after eating a Tide Pod and nope. No one has reported any teen-dough-heads doing this incredibly dough-headed challenge.

Have people done it? I'm sorry to say yes. There have been 39 dough-heads intentionally eating Tide Pods. What the flamin' hooty-hoo???

Thirty-nine reports of teenagers intentionally misusing laundry pods came in during the first 15 days of 2018 alone, according to data from the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC). For context, there were 39 cases of intentional misuse of these pods among teenagers in all of 2016, and 53 in 2017, AAPCC spokesperson Edward Walrod told TIME — suggesting that while the problem may not be hugely common, it is on the rise. (TIME)

Not only has it been happening this month, it's been going on since 2016? Sheesh. Dough-Heads, stop it!

Keep in mind that's 39 cases out of 323.1 million people in the USA. Statistically, that's 0% of the population.

The media covering this like it's a SUPER REAL DANGEROUS STOP EVERYTHING AND FREAK OUT story has led to some great memes. Here's two I could get permission to run.

Special thank you to The Junk Food Aisle for letting us use their great meme!
