Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol was called out late last night to investigate two deadly traffic crashes that were separated by only about 15-miles and 15-minutes. The slick conditions that developed on the roadways throughout the region yesterday likely contributed to both wrecks and the State Patrol says alcohol was a factor in one of them.

That crash was reported just before 11:20 p.m. on Highway 50 about two miles east of Hampton in Dakota County. The State Patrol identified the victim as 49-year-old Terri Stephenson of Hampton. She was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by 53-year-old Michael Serres of Hampton that went into the ditch and rolled. The official report on the crash indicates alcohol was detected in Serres, who was transported to a Twin Cities Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other fatality was reported just after 11 PM on Highway 56 near Dennison in Goodhue County. The State Patrol says 58-year-old Scott Friedrich of Cannon Falls was fatally injured when he lost control of his minivan and it rolled in the ditch.
