Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  The Rochester Police Dept. Tuesday issued an advisory about a recent uptick in car prowling incidents.

So far this month, the department has received 65 complaints. That compares to 29 during October a year ago. The department received 42 complaints last month and 40 in August.

Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says most of the victims had left their vehicles unlocked. He says many also left valuables in their vehicles that were visible to the thieves.

Moilanen says there has also been an increase in the number of thefts from underground parking sites, especially in the downtown.
