A Close Call For Two Southeast Minnesota Snowmobilers
Pelican Lake, MN (KROC AM News) - It was a harrowing and icy cold experience for two snowmobilers from southeast Minnesota.
Despite the recent cold weather in Minnesota, they had a close call when they broke through the ice of a lake.
The incident happened late Wednesday afternoon on Pelican Lake in west-central Minnesota.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office says snowmobiles operated by 58-year-old Julie Hale of Grand Meadow, 48-year-old Tracy Hale of Winona, and 21-year-old Cole Hale age 21 of Riceville, Iowa, fell through the ice.
The sheriff’s office says “The water was approximately 4-6 feet deep at the location and all parties were able to get out of the water on their own. No injuries were reported.”
The sheriff’s office posted the area and issued an advisory to others “to be cautious in channel areas of lakes with the recent heavy snowfall.”
