As the season progresses, more and more teams in southeast Minnesota are showing they are among the best teams in the state.

In the December 29th rankings from the Pacesetter Newsletter, by Minnesota Basketball News, there were 20 area teams ranked in the Top 20 of their respective classes. A lot of the names are familiar, but there are some new squads that have cracked the rankings.

Southeast Minnesota Teams Ranked in The Top 20

In girls basketball, Hayfield remains the only team in southeast Minnesota ranked in the Top 20 in Class A, while Goodhue, Lake City, Rochester Lourdes, Winona Cotter, and Dover-Eyota were all in the Top 20 in Class AA. Austin and Stewartville remained the lone-ranked teams in Class AAA.

In boys basketball, Rushford-Peterson, Hayfield, Spring Grove, and Kenyon-Wanamingo are ranked in Class A, while Caledonia, Lake City, and LaCrescent-Hokah are in the Top 20 in Class AA. In Class AAA, Winona, Austin, Byron, and Stewartville all cracked the Top 20, while Owatonna is ranked in Class AAAA.
