Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It was a cold but successful Polar Plunge at Rochester’s Foster-Arend park Saturday.

More than 600 plungers signed up for the 21st annual event to raise money for Special Olympics.

Among the jumpers was Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson, the chief organizer of the event.

The fundraising goal this year was $250,000 and at last report, donations had reached nearly $230,000. Last year’s total was $178,000.

Over the 21 years of the event, plungers have raised around $3.5-million.

Temperatures during the event were in the single digits.
