You’ve seen our lists of rock cameos on The Simpsons and South Park, so now we’re heading under the sea for these awesome SpongeBob SquarePants cameos.

Did you know David Bowie was featured in a full SpongeBob episode? The legendary musician voices the part of Lord Royal Highness in SpongeBob’s 92nd episode, "SpongeBob’s Atlantis SquarePantis." It’s not rated as the best episode ever, but Bowie’s portrayal of LRH (possibly a dig at Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard) is unforgettable in this special extended episode.

How many metalheads were introduced to Pantera via SpongeBob? The ‘90s metal kings gave a piece of “Death Rattle” to the show, which was played at multiple stages of the Season Two episode. Fans even noticed SpongeBob himself “breaking the fourth wall” when Pantera began to play. The band’s flame-filled logo even appears during the opening credits of “Prehibernation Week.”

Twisted Sister legend Dee Snider voiced a hysterical character, Angry Jack, in a Season Six episode of SpongeBob. In “Shell Shocked,” Snider plays a furiously angry salesman who uses his exasperation in TV commercials. Mark Metcalf may have seemed pissed off in Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock” and “We’re Not Gonna Take It” videos, but that’s nothing compared to Angry Jack.
