Why Did These 3 MN Restaurants Close After Being on ‘Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives’?
There are quite a few Minnesota restaurants that have been featured on national TV, and specifically on the popular show 'Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives'. In fact, last I checked, there are 37 that have been featured on the Food Network in general that are still open and you can go check them out yourself. Sadly, some other restaurants featured can't say the same.
Plenty of factors can go into the decision to close the doors of a restaurant. It could be a lack of employees, they aren't making enough money anymore, the rent is too high, all sorts of things. But when it's a restaurant that has been on a show like 'Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives' it makes you wonder what exactly happened.
Even though these 3 restaurants were featured on Guy Fieri's popular show, they still weren't able to make it for whatever reason.
Why These Minnesota Restaurants Closed After Being on 'Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives'
Gannucci's Italian Market & Restaurant - Duluth
Gannucci's in Duluth was featured on an episode of 'Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives' but unfortunately ended up closing their doors. Based on a piece from Duluth News Tribune it sounds like they closed because of the pandemic. However, according to FOX 21, it seems that the restaurant closed because "[t]he longtime owner ... [was] charged with sexually assaulting two children."
Prairie Dogs - Minneapolis
Prairie Dogs in Minneapolis also closed after a visit from Guy Fieri. They said on Facebook that it was the "curse of the location" (many businesses before them had closed in that same location) and that they saw "a lot of ups and downs…but a little too many downs." They closed in 2016.
Town Talk Diner & Gastropub - Minneapolis
Finally, Town Talk Diner and Gastropub in Minneapolis closed too but unfortunately, it wasn't because of bad business. The location actually was burned down in the protests in 2020. They shared a photo on Facebook of the building.
It's really sad to see that these three restaurants couldn't make it for one reason or another. However, like I mentioned earlier, there are many restaurants that have been featured on the Food Network that are still going strong. Keep scrolling to check them out!
