There are a ton a new craft breweries across Minnesota these days, but the biggest brewery in the state is a familiar name that's been here awhile.

The Brewers Association is a not-for-profit trade group that represents small and independent craft brewers across the country. And last week, they released their annual survey of the 50 largest craft brewing companies in the U.S., based on beer sales volume.

And Minnesota has several entries on the list. Three to be exact. And if you like to tip back a pint of Minnesota-produced suds, they're some pretty familiar names. Try Summit Brewing Company of St. Paul, August Schell Brewing Company of New Ulm and Surly Brewing Company of Minneapolis.

But which one is the largest here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes? If I'd have had to bet, I'd have guessed Surly. But, I would have been wrong. As it turns out, St. Paul Summit Brewing Company is the largest beer-seller in Minnesota this year, up one spot from a year ago at #24 on the national list.

Right behind Summit at #25 is Schell Brewing, down a spot from last year. Meanwhile, Surly clocks in at #34 this year, up five spots from last year's list. No matter who's the largest, though, it's nice to see three familiar names from right here in the Bold North make the national list again this year.
