The following post contains SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame. It’s mid-June and I cannot believe I still have to write this at the top of articles about this movie.

Trent Reznor once said that Johnny Cash’s cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt” was so powerful that the song doesn’t belong to him anymore. From that moment on, it belonged to Cash.

Well, now it belongs to someone else. Lebowski Thor.

The man behind The Dude of Thunder, Chris Hemsworth, tweeted a video of himself playing a cover of “Hurt” in the style of Johnny Cash in character as the sad, heavier Thor from after the time jump in Avengers: Endgame. Sad Lebowski Thor has lost everyone he loved and has retreated to Norway to drown his sorrows in beer and video games. In other words, this guy knows what it feels like to hurt. No wonder his version is so powerful. Take a listen...

It’s just too bad Hemsworth’s rendition didn’t wind up on the Endgame soundtrack. It would have made it an instant best-seller. Avengers: Endgame is still in theaters by the way. Have you heard of it? It’s a small indie film, still making its way around the country. You might want to give it a try.
