Watch For Scooters Tomorrow in Rochester
Starting tomorrow you'll see people zipping around Rochester on Lime Scooters. If you want to hop on one you'll need their app to unlock the scooter. There is a fee to unlock and a fee per minute of usage. Learn more here.
Those interested in learning more about them are invited to a special presentation on Historic Third Street on August 1 at 4 p.m. Representatives will be on had offering demos and safety training.“Rochester’s forward-thinking commitment to providing its community with diverse transportation options is inspiring,” says Nico Probst, Midwest Government Relations for Lime. “We are excited to partner with the city on that goal and help better connect residents and visitors to the city’s many amenities with our fleet of electric scooters that make it easier and more affordable to get around.”
The pilot program is scheduled to run through November 30th. At that time the City and Destination Medical Center (DMC) will identify what benefits and issues arose. The Rochester Police Department says scooter operators will need to follow the same rules set for bicyclists - they must travel in a bike or traffic lane, and they are not to be operated on sidewalks in the downtown business district.
