Want To Get Out Of a Group Text? Here’s How.

Ever been stuck in a group text that you didn't want to be in in the first place? Well, I think I've discovered a way to get out of it in a hurry.   So there I was on Friday, minding my own business when I got a text. It was from a friend of ours who was having a bonfire at their house and wanted to see if we wanted to come over for a few beers. Sounds great, right. Nothing wrong with that. We enjoy their company but my wife was sick and I had already had a few drinks so we couldn't make it.

The one problem I did have with it, is that it was sent to 8 other people (I can only assume it was all women) So now I'm stuck in the endless loop of people I don't even know, responding to said text. "Can't make it. Sorry." "Out with so and so..." "Damn, I'm already in bed.." yada, yada, yada. My phone kept going off with everybody responding to the initial text. 9pm on the nose is when it started. Then, 16 text responses later, it stopped at 9:17pm. "Phew, that's over." I thought to myself. I'm just not a fan of the group texts.

Then, this morning, I get a text notification. It's someone replying to the text thread from Friday. My first thought was, "OK. maybe it's a mistake. Maybe they'll realize what they did and start another group text and leave me out of it." Not the case, I guess. So, rather then listen to my phone go off ever 10 seconds for the next 20 minutes, I thought I'd put a stop to it right now. I think it worked because nobody responded. So, if you're ever stuck in a group text that you do not want to be in...just make it awkward. It WILL work. (For the record, I don't smoke weed...so don't text me looking for any)
