Unlike Last Year, You Can Watch the Vikings’ Training Camp This Year
The Vikings officially launched their 2021 training camp Wednesday and, unlike last year, you'll be able to watch the activities yourself.
The Minnesota Vikings kicked off their 2021 NFL season Wednesday, July 28th with the start of training camp up at team headquarters at the Twin Cities Orthopedic Performance Center in Eagan. And, yes, fans WILL be allowed to watch practice this year.
This is the Vikings' 61st training camp, since they first joined the NFL back in 1960. It's their fourth pre-season of holding camp at their new, state-of-the-art headquarters in Eagan. The team, of course, used to hold training camp every summer in Mankato, where you could get an up-close look at the players with no tickets needed and no cost to attend.
Well, that all changed when they moved into the TCO Performance Center for the start the 2018 training camp. And, thanks to the pandemic, last year's training camp was closed to the public.
But that's not the case this year. While you DO need a ticket (and the NFL is using only digital tickets this year) and it WILL cost you ($10 is the going rate), you CAN still watch the team go through its paces at it attempts to solidify its 2021 roster. According to the Vikings website, training camp 2021 will include 14 separate practices:
The 2021 camp will include joint practices with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, August 11, and Thursday, August 12, leading in to the teams' preseason game on Saturday, August 14, at U.S. Bank Stadium. Up to 4,000 free general admission digital tickets, which must be reserved in advance, are available for 10 practices at the Land O'Lakes practice fields at Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center.
Training camp will be open daily from 12 to 5 pm with daily practices held from approximately 2 to 4:30 pm. You can get complete ticket information HERE. The team noted four milestones you might want to check out, if you're headed up to check out training camp this year:
• Saturday, July 31 – Night Practice in TCO Stadium
• Monday, August 2 – First Padded Practice
• Saturday, August 7 – U.S. Bank Stadium Scrimmage (Frontline Heroes Theme Day)
• Wednesday, August 11 and Thursday, August 12 – Joint Practices with Denver Broncos
