Two Women Picked As Rochester City Administrator Finalists
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It appears the next Rochester City Administrator will be a woman.
And if so, it will mark the first time in Rochester history the top three positions in city government will be filled by women at the same time.
The City Council Monday decided to interview two finalists for the top position in city government. The two will be interviewed next Wednesday by the council, incoming new council members and Mayor Kim Norton. A decision on the new administrator is expected before the end of the year.
The two finalists are Heidi Nelson, the current city administrator in Maple Grove and Alison Zelms, now working as deputy city manager in Mankato.
Heidi Nelson
She has previously served as the City Administrator in Wayzata, Minnesota, the Deputy City Administrator/Community Development Director for the City of Ramsey, Minnesota, and Assistant to the Blaine City Manager. Ms. Nelson received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Health Education from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration from Hamline University.
Alison Zelms
She has previous experience serving as the Deputy City Manager in Prescott, Arizona, the Assistant City Manager in Sedona, Arizona, and the Director of Administrative Hearings for the City of Evanston, Illinois. Ms. Zelms received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration from Augustana College and her Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of Kansas.
