According to jail records, the men were arrested Saturday night at different times and different locations in Minneapolis. Steveson was apprehended at a home in the Como neighborhood of Minneapolis. Martinez was taken into custody at his home.

A 911 call about a possible criminal sexual conduct incident with an object, brought officers to the 14th Avenue address the previous evening on Friday at 8:40 PM.

In a statement, a University of Minnesota athletics department official said, "We are aware of a situation involving two of our student-athletes and are in the process of gathering more information. These students have been suspended from all team activity pending further information. Federal and state law precludes any further details at this time."
