Organizers work with the National Weather Service in La Crosse and the Rochester Police Department each time there is severe weather in the forecast. The decision to cancel is made with "everyone’s safety in mind."
An update on the event's Facebook page said, "After consulting with the US National Weather Service La Crosse Wisconsin and the City of Rochester, MN Police Department, we have deemed it necessary to cancel the rest of Thursdays Downtown August 18. The threat of inclement weather is expected to increase early this evening. We make this decision with everyone’s safety in mind. We know and share in the disappointment of this decision. We appreciate your support and understanding."
The NWS in La Crosse posted an update on this evening's forecast around 5:00 pm that said, "Isolated storms are tracking east across the area.
