When you think of sandwiches for which Minnesota is famous, which one comes to your mind? It's probably not the one a survey lists as our state's 'Most Iconic'.

If you're like me, that is. I'm not entirely buying what this Delish.com survey says is 'Minnesota's Most Iconic' Sandwich. Because they say it's... the walleye sandwich.

Really? A walleye sandwich? That's our Most Iconic?

Here's how they describe the Most Iconic Sandwich from the Land of 10,000 Lakes:

"Move aside, Juicy Lucy. Minnesota's beloved state fish, the walleye, can hold its own. The fillets are breaded, fried and served on a soft roll with lettuce, tomato, onion and sometimes a smear of tangy sauce."

I mean, sure, walleye IS our state fish and all, and I like a good fish fry or shore lunch as much as anyone. I'm also sure there are some lovely walleye sandwiches at establishments all over Minnesota, but is that really the sandwich for which we're most well known?

I beg to differ. In fact, I'd suggest the Jucy Lucy (which is the proper way to spell it, btw, according to Matt's Bar in Minneapolis, which invented it) is waaaay more famous-- I mean, 'iconic'-- than the walleye sandwich.

Sports bars and restaurants all over Minnesota now serve some version of the Jucy Lucy. Plus, Matt's Bar has even hosted national shows like Guy Fiere's Diners, Drive-In's and Dives which featured that classic Minnesota food. It's way more 'iconic' than the walleye sandwich if you ask me.

I will give you, though, that perhaps the Jucy Lucy is considered a burger, and not an actual sandwich. You might have me there. But, it's still waayy more Minnesota, and waaayy more iconic than a walleye sandwich, am I right? And, keep scrolling to see 10 foods that are absolutely and totally Minnesota, as well!
