The Mayo Clinic is Number 1 in the World

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Mayo Clinic has been ranked as the top hospital in the world.

The Rochester-based and world-famous medical center has repeatedly been recognized as the best in the United States and has now been named as number 1 in the world. The ranking by Newsweek has the Cleveland Clinic listed at number 2 and Massachusetts General as the third-best in the world.

The remainder of the top five are outside of the U.S., with Toronto General Hospital ranked 4th and Charité–Universitätsmedizin Berlin 5th. Only one other U.S. hospital is listed in the top ten with Johns Hopkins listed at number 6.

Newsweek Global Editor in Chief Nancy Cooper says the publication teamed up with a global data research firm to rank the world’s top-class health care providers. This was the second year Newsweek has used Statista Inc. for the task, which also involved the formation of a Board of Global Experts to review, validate and recommend improvements to the ranking process.
