The Largest Paper Ball Ever Created Was In Minnesota

Many records have been broken in Minnesota, but I found this one the most fascinating.

I mean, it had to take plenty of effort and plenty of collection, and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency did just that in 2014.

Yes, there is pretty much a Guinness World Record for about anything now, but back on August 5th, 2014, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency put together a paper ball that weighed 426 pounds and was 3.13 meters in diameter.

According to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's website, the paper wad was created to show just how much paper Minnesotans throw away in 30 seconds. As you can see from the YouTube clip above, that is A LOT of paper.

"The impressive wad of paper was on display at the Minnesota State Fair's Eco Experience in 2014. MPCA staff created this massive ball to showcase how much paper Minnesotans throw away in less than 30 seconds. The ball weighed 426 pounds, was more than 9 feet high, and 32 feet around."

The wad of paper was on display back in 2014, but it is not anymore. After the state fair back in 2014 the paper was actually recycled to liner board for packagings like cereal or food boxes.

400 pounds of paper in just 30 seconds is just crazy to think about! Now, that was 7 years ago so hopefully, more Minnesotans have started recycling that paper since then so it can be reused for other purposes.
