Living here in the Land of 10,00 Lakes, we're used to seeing all kinds of wildlife along our Minnesota highways and byways. From farm animals like the Brown Swiss and Holsteins that dot our landscape, to deer, skunks, gophers, squirrels and more that sometimes cross our paths, there are a lot of animals. Hopefully, you haven't hit many with your car-- like this Minnesota sheriff's department squad car almost did.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Department is pretty active on social media these days, posting many online updates about calls for service they've encountered while out keeping us safe.

Chisago County, by the way, is located along I-35, north of the Twin Cities, roughly two hours north of Rochester. It runs from near Wyoming on its south end to Rush City on the north as you head up I-35.

And, earlier this week, they posted a dash cam video taken from one of their squad cars that shows one of their deputies nearly hitting... an eagle. Yikes.

"We've hit lots of things with our squads (deer, horses, deer, suitcases, deer, possums, owls, deer, etc.) but this may have been a first," the department said on Twitter. I've hit a few deer in my time, but, thankfully, never any birds-- let alone an eagle!
